It was named after the Rivers Creuse, Thaurion and Gartempe which run through hilly green landscapes.
After your visit, you will remember: the running water, the ponds and lakes, the beech, oak and birch forests, the herds peacefully grazing in pastures and the villages with granite houses dominated by ancestral churches.
Wherever you are, you will experience the warmth and dynamism of these welcoming villages.
Our cultural heritage is very rich. In Ahun, you will discover a Roman church dating back to the XIII th century with a Baroque altar and a remarkable Pieta. You can also visit the IX-Xth century crypt on which the church was built. Originally, it was a Pagan temple.
In Moutier d’Ahun (“Monastery of Ahun” in old french), you will find a Roman abbey founded in 997 with exceptional woodcarvings. It is one of the most beautiful sites in the Creuse.
Go to Sous-Parsat and visit the church with contemporary paintings representing the Old and New Testaments.
Don’t leave the area without going to Masgot where a stonemason sculpted figures of animals, people or whatever appeared in his dreams all around the village !
You will also admire the châteaux and the fantastic work of our artists inspired by the nature all around them.
Submerge yourself in nature and go hiking, cycling or horse-riding…Rediscover simple pleasures such as fishing or lake swimming…
